Press Release

TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 29, 2001--BAE SYSTEMS today announced the company was selected for simulation in the virtual domain under the U.S. Army Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation Command (STRICOM) Omnibus Contract.

The STRICOM Omnibus Contract (STOC) is an eight-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract vehicle valued at up to $4 billion. This contracting vehicle allows the Army to acquire a full range of simulation, training, and modeling products and services by issuing task and delivery orders to contractors who have first been selected. The STOC is structured into four separate domains: live, virtual, constructive, and test-instrumentation.

BAE SYSTEMS Flight Simulation and Training is now selected as one of the prime contractors able to pursue the virtual domain task orders issued under STOC. The BAE SYSTEMS team includes AAI Corporation, AcuSoft, Litton/TASC, Management Technology, Raydon, Alenia Marconi Systems, and BAE SYSTEMS Applied Technologies. The BAE SYSTEMS team will provide simulation and training solutions for both air and ground platforms.

``The STRICOM Omnibus Contract will allow the Army to meet its training requirements more efficiently and cost-effectively through a much shorter contracting cycle,'' said John Pitts, president, BAE SYSTEMS Flight Simulation and Training. ``Our expertise in a range of simulation and training areas, complemented by the vast experience of our team members, makes BAE SYSTEMS a team with unrivaled capabilities to support the Army.''

The definition of the virtual domain under the STOC is the replication of actual warfighting equipment, systems, and munitions with the capability to perform individual, crew, and collective training in a specific environment. The virtual domain includes the training, testing, and experimentation conducted in simulators using computer-generated battlefields.
